Archives Collection - CSPM

Archives Collection

On July 25, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) will begin an eight-month, $6.2 million capital project to install a state-of-art HVAC system. During this time, the 1903 El Paso County Courthouse will close to the public, but a CSPM Annex will open at the Plaza of the Rockies to display brand-new exhibits.

This project will also allow the museum to create a new exhibition gallery, renovate an existing gallery, and design and construct a publicly-viewable collections processing and exhibit preparation workspace — all while preserving our historic 1903 El Paso County Courthouse. This transformative project will increase the ability to preserve and share Pikes Peak regional history.

For more information on this exciting project, please visit the FAQ page here.

The Special Collections and Archives of the CSPM are housed in the Starsmore Center for Local History and include[s] manuscripts, photographs, ephemera, maps and blueprints, and a non-circulating reference library. The focus of the collection is the richly diverse history and culture of the Pikes Peak Region, and we actively seek materials that expand our understanding of our community’s past and present. Use the research tools below to learn more and plan your visit to the Starsmore Center of Local History at the CSPM.

The Starsmore Center for Local History (SCLH) was a gift to the citizens of Colorado Springs from Mary E. Starsmore in memory of her husband, James W. Starsmore.

The preservation of the artifacts and archival materials in our collection is our top priority throughout the construction project. In order to focus on the preservation of our collections, the CSPM will pause active collecting of artifacts and archival materials during this time.
